Biography
| Anne Kingdon, Consultant Nurse in Learning Disabilities, Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Biography Anne joined the NHS in 1974 as a cadet nurse. Since qualifying as a registered nurse in 1979 she has continued to work in the NHS in a variety of positions in both hospital and community settings. In 1997 Anne took up a newly developed forensic community nursing post attached to a regional secure unit for adults with learning disabilities and needs associated with offending behaviour. In 2001 she gained a masters degree in forensic behavioural science and was appointed as Consultant Nurse in Learning Disabilities. Throughout her career Anne’s work has been focussed on providing specialist health services to people with learning disabilities with complex and challenging needs and her commitment to this group has remained undiminished. Anne continues to work directly with patients with the most complex needs and is a recognised expert in her field. Anne’s contribution to the Vision for Learning Disability Nursing (UK Learning Disability Consultant Nurse Network 2006) included taking on an editorial role. She regularly presents at regional and national events regarding the needs of people with learning disabilities and the role of the learning disability nurse. Anne’s published work includes two chapters in The Handbook of Forensic Learning Disabilities. (Riding, T., Swann, K & Swann, B. eds. (2005) Oxford: Radcliffe) and submissions for two reference books to be published in 2009 (Dukes, M. Learning Disability Nursing,Quay Books and Oxford University Handbook on Learning Disability Nursing. Oxford University Press).
